ERGON IS THE STAIN RESISTANT PORCELAIN STONEWARE
Cleanability is Ergon's outstanding feature.
The material's stain-proof qualities are proven by the ISO Project 10545.14 test. Ergon is classified in the 5th class, the highest possible. Stain is easily removed from all types of surface, natural or polished, using just hot running water.
ERGON IS SCRATCH RESISTANT
The hardness of the surface, expressed as resistance to scratching, is measured by the EN 101 test method. The tile is scratched with the sharp edges of the sample minerals, arranged in increasing hardness from 1 to 10 on the Mohs scale, where 10 is diamond.
The product standard envisages grade 6 as minimum requirement. Ergon achieves Mohs 8.
ERGON IS RESISTANT TO CHEMICAL ETCHING
Ergon tiles are obtained by processing high quality raw materials. This is further confirmed by the EN 106 test which shows resistance to acids and bases. Samples of fine porcelain stoneware were immersed in aggressive chemical solutions for 28 days without any alteration. Ergon tiles have also been tested under the more severe ASTM American standards, which confirm Ergon's chemical resistance.
ERGON IS NON ABSORBENT
In order to classify a porcelain as "fully vitrified", the EN 176 norm requires an absorption of less than 0.5%.
Ergon's water absorption value is actually nil (0.04%). A non-absorbent material is unaffected by frost, is compact, and withstands mechanical stresses.
ERGON HAS HIGH BREAKING STRENGTH
Fine porcelain stoneware is commonly used on the floors of industrial premises, or where traffic is intense. In these conditions, where the static and dynamic loads are heavy, the material's bending strength is extremely important.
The EN 100 standard requires a minimum bending strength of 274.5 kg/cm2, calculated as the force needed to break a tile. Ergon achieves much higher values, of over 580 kg/cm2
ERGON IS WEAR RESISTANT
The deep abrasion test indicates the material's hardness. The reference value shows the quantity of material being removed from a sample subjected to the combined action of a rotating disc and abrasive powder.
The EN 102 norm set a maximum limit of 205 mm3 of material removed. Ergon fully complies with this norm, as its own limit features an average value of 128 mm3.
ERGON HAS ANANTISKID SURFACE
Fine porcelain stoneware are widely used in public areas with high pedestrian traffic, subject to safety regulations.
In many of its versions, Ergon meets the skid resistance values required by the strictest international standards (B.C.R.A. test, DIN 51130, ASTM C1028/89).
ERGON IS CERTIFIED
Ergon's quality level is assured by the Emilceramica Quality System, certified under ISO 9001. The industrial group is the only one to hold certification for all its production units and all its technological processes.
This certification confirms the quality level not only of the product itself, but of all industrial and commercial activities, from design to the production system and sales
ERGON IS ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY
Non toxic substances are used in any part of the Ergon production process, and all unfired or fired waste is recycled, without any emission of solids or gases into the atmosphere.
Ergon's commitment to the environment has won recognition; the Emilceramica group has been awarded the Eta 93 prize by the Italian State Electricity Company (ENEL) and the first Eco-Efficienza (Eco-Efficiency) prize, assigned by the "Il Sole 24 ore" premier financial newspaper group.
ERGON IS FROST PROOF
Ergon tiles are non-absorbent and thus absolutely frostproof. Naturally, Ergon complies with the European norm EN 202 which requires the tile examined to withstand 50 freezing-thawing cycles with passage from +15° to -15°C.
ERGON IS SHOCK RESISTANT
Fine porcelain stoneware has higher shock resistance than any other ceramic product. Ergon passes the shock-resistance test with steel balls dropped from increasing height
